HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation - Vietnam Veterans DayPROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was constructed in Washington D.C. to honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who served their county during the Vietnam War, and WHEREAS, a replica of this memorial, "The Wall That Heals", will be exhibited June 25, 1998 through June 28, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Cemetery in Eagle Point, and WHEREAS, this is an opportunity for all residents of our community to experience this memorial and to see the names of the more than 52,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of democracy, 709 of whom were from the State of Oregon. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rusty McGrath, Mayor of the City of Central Point, Oregon, do hereby proclaim June 27, 1998, to be VIETNAM VETERANS DAY in the City of Central Point and encourage all citizens to join in this observance.
