PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, there is a need to increase public awareness of
the most frequently committed crime in the State of Oregon,. and
WHEREAS, Society needs to stand behind tougher laws in
order to rid our country of a crime more major than murder, rape or
armed robbery, and
WHEREAS, over 25,000 Americans lose their lives and
650,000 more are crippled or suffer seriouS:.injur_ies each year in al-
cohol-related accidents, and
WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan has declared Play 21, 1983
as National Drunk Driving Prevention Day,
NOW, THEREFORE, I Don Jones, Mayor of the City of Central
Point, Oregon, do hereby proclaim that Play 21st, .1983 is NATIONAL DRUNK
DRIVING PREVENTION DAY IN THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT and urge all citizens
to observe this date by being aware of the responsibility of operating
a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants whereby
they will be jeopardizing the physical well-being of others and themselves.
