Central Point, Oregon 7:30 p.m.
The Common Council met in regular adjourned session with Mayor Bartley
presiding. Roll call found: Ayres, Hill, Holbrook, Mushaney, Tucker;
present. Absent; Tonn. Also present: Mason, Tate, Mansfie~:d.
It was moved and seconded the minutes of the previous meeting, as
mailed to each councilman, be approved. Motion carried.
.Liquor License renewals were presented for approval:
Van Weys Market, Fabers Market, Economy'~Iarket, Pioneer Cafe, Corner
Club, Central Point Grocery, Three Boys Market.
Motion Ayres, second Holbrook to approve the liquor licenses. Ayes:
Ayres, Holbrook, Mushaney, Abstaining: Tucker, Hill. Motion carried.
Mr:;;.:Ma§on read a letter from the State Highway Department offering a
60 foot right-oF-way for the extension of Manzanita Street westerly
from North Front Street. They would accept $1.00.
Motion was made and seconded to accept the offer. Motion carried.
Request was made for permission for the Cub Scouts to p$~int house
numbers on the curbs for a project.
It was moved and seconded to approve the request, if the project
was done under proper supervision. Motion carried.
Discussion on the improvement of Bush Street from Highway 99 to
Fourth Street. The State Highway estimated $k5,000.00 for the project.
The property owners share would be approximately $20,000.00. Mr.
Mason said since there was no petition in for the curbs, the State
could make the allotment in next years budget. But they must have
a letter from the city stating they would be willing to pay the
$20,000.00. Mr. Mason said they would have to install some storm
sewer prior to the paving. Tabled.
The council instructed the Recorder to draft a letter of appreciation
to Don D. Turner, Sr. for his many years of service to the city. Letter
to be signed by the Mayor and Council. Also, to order a plaque made
for him.
Mr. Mason was instructed to write a letter to the State Highway
Department stating the costs as estimated for Bush Street were too high.
Attorney Mansfield said he was to meet with Roy Bashaw and R. Salter,
regarding the B.C.V.S.A. A meeting will be called, probably in December,
for the council to discuss the agreement.
Mayor Bartley proclaimed Education Week for November 10-16.
It was moved and seconded to accept the Mayors Proclamation. Motion
carried. --
Next meeting to be November 12 at 7:30 p.m. _

Public Hearing 8:00 p.m.
Dale Van Wey appeared before the council on his request to vacate
the Northerly 10 .feet of Oak Street form First Street to Second Street
and the East-West alley in Block 10. He stated that. this would make
his proposed Shopping Center more compact and give ample room for
parking.
It was moved and seconded to approve the request for vacation and to
instruct the City Attorney to draft an ordinance. Motion carried.

It was moved and seconded to adjourn to November 12 at 7:30 p.m.
or to the call of the Mayor. Motion carried.
