The Common Council met in Special Ad3ourned session. Mayor Bartley
presiding. Roll call found: Present; Ayres, Hill, Holbrook, Mushaney
and Tucker. Absent; Torn. Also present; Mason,Absent: Tate.
Dale Van Wey came before the Council to request a vacation of ten
feet (10~) of Oak Street right-of-way between South Eirst Street and
South Second Street. Also he requested vacating the East-West alley
in Block 10. The Central Point Planning Commission had reviewed the
plans for development of this property on Thursday, October 3, 1968
and approved unanimously the vacations requested. Mr. Van Wey presented
the plans for the one City block development to the Council. Discussion
on the vacations and parking facilities. Adequate parking is being
provided. Motion by Holbrook, second by Mushaney that the alley and
the North 10~ of Oak Street , between South First Street and South
Second Street be vacated. All in favor. Motion carried.
The problem on South First Street between Cedar and Bush Streets
was brought before the Council. The existing street not being in
the supposed right-of-way::: Administrator Mason recommended that the
street be put in the existing road way if it had to be cut to a
28 foot or even a 26 foot street. Discussion. The general consensus
of the Council was to make the street as wide as possible and not
disrupt certain citizens.
A motion was made by Mushaney, second by Ayres that the meeting be
ad3ourned to the call of the Mayor. All in favor. Motion carried.

The Council then met in open session on the subject of Retirement
program. Fidelity, Aetna and Woodmen Insurance Companies programs
were discussed very thoroughly. After analyzing each program and"
lengthy discussion it was felt that Woodmen Insurance Company had
offered the best program for the ~nployee. The general opinion of
the entire Council was to install a program with 3~ ~nployer and
3~ Employee participation. The Recorder was instructed to arrange
a meeting with Chet Myers, Woodmen representative, the employees
and the Administrative Committee as soon as convenient.
