Councilman Ben Mushaney was appointed Chairman due to the absence of Mayor Bartley ' and Councilman Holbrook. Roll call found: Present; Ayres, Mushaney, Hill, `l'one, and Tucker. Absent; Bartley and Holbrook. Also present; Mason and Engineer Bryce Townley. Propose of this meeting was a Bid Opening on South First Street improvement. Bids were opened. The folowing Bids were presented. Concrete Steel Corp: Schedule A: ~~ B: " C; Total M.C. Lininger &jSons, Inc: Schedule A: ~- B: ~~ C: Total Petrehn & Purdy Const: Schedule C: (only) Ray E. Motion by Ayres, second by Hill that the Bids be tabled for later discussion with Engineer Bryce Tovmley. All in favor. Motion carried. An application for a Class B liquor permit to be approved by the Council was submitted by the Central Point Grocery, Eva Deuthschman, owner. After discussion a motion was made by Tonn, second by Ayres that the application be approved. All in favor. Motion carried. Mr. & Mrs. Turnbull, 705 s. Fifth St., came before the Council requesting a variance of Ordinance No. 882, relating to fences. Mrs. Turnbull had filed an application for variance on August 15, 1968 in accordance with Ord. 882. A plat of their property with the plans sfor their fence was also presented. After discussion a motion was made by Tonn, second by Tucker that the variance be granted providing that no planting, or growing vines be planted adjacent to this fence that might obstruct vision of traffic. All in favor. Motion carried. ~: ~~'i Mike Moran, representing Phillips Petroleum Corporation, came before the Council to request a tentative approval for vacating a 20 foot alley between Tax Lots 9600 and 9700, Block 14, Original Town, Jackson County, Central. Point, Oregon. Said Lot being 80 foot long lying North of Pine Street. A motion was made by Tucker, second by Hill, that a tentative - approval be granted to vacate said alley upon written request from Phillips Petroleum Corporation and subject to Public Hearing. Recorder to write Phillips Petroleum Corp. to this effect. All in favor. Motion carried. 1 Thomas E. Whittle came before the Council requesting that the City sell him enough City Property, contiguous to his Lot. 1, Block 2, Green Oaks Subdivision, Central Point, Oregon to provide him with a legal building lot fora 57 foot residence on said Lot 1. Lengthy discussion. Motion was made by Hill that the City deed entire section, as described, with an utility easement to be returned to the City of Central Point on said property, and a metes and bounds description of said property to be•furnished to the~City by Mr. TiJhittle. Mr. Whittle to pay the City $100.00 dollars for said property plus paying all costs of said transaction. Second by Tonn. All in favor. Motion carried. The bids .for street improvements cifrSouth First Street, between Oak and Cedar Streets, were then discussed with Engineer Bryce Townley. After thoroughly checking all bids a motion was made by Ayres, second by Hill that the bid be awarded to Concrete Steel Corporation, as low bidder. All in favor. Motion carried.
