HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1636ORDINANCE NO. 1636 ORDINANCE ORDERING BIANNUAL ELECTION FOR CITY OFFICERS TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1990 WHEREAS, Section 30 of the Central Point Charter provides that all nomination papers relating to elections shall be assembled and filed with the City Administrator as one instrument not earlier than ninety (90) days nor later than thirty (30) days prior to an election, and ORS 254.095 provides that the Chief Elections Officer of the City shall prepare and furnish to the County Clerk a certified statement of the City offices to be filled and for which candidates are to be nominated not later than the sixty-first (61st) day before the date of the general election, and WHEREAS, the general election is scheduled for November 6, 1990 and times and dates must be specified for the filing of the certificates or petitions of nomination in accordance with said Charter, the City's ordinances and State law, now, therefore, THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT, OREGON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The biannual election of the City of Central Point, Oregon, shall be held concurrently with the general election of the State of Oregon on November 6, 1990 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, at which election the City shall elect the Mayor and one Councilmember each from Wards I, II and III. Section 2. The precincts, precinct polling places and judges and clerks of election shall be the same as those provided within the City of Central Point, Oregon, for the statewide general election held on said date. Section 3. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election by posting notice thereof at a conspicuous place in the City Hall and in one public place in each voting precinct within the City, which notice shall state the officers to be elected and the ballot title of each measure to be voted upon, and the time and place of the election. Section 4. All candidates for said offices shall file their certificates or petitions of nomination with the City Administrator between August 10, 1990 and August 24, 1990 at 5:00 p.m., in accordance with the State law and Charter provisions ORDINANCE NO. 1636 _ 1 (ELECTION.ORD - 051490) above referenced and all other applicable State laws and City Charter and ordinance provisions.
