HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Resolution 949RESOLUTION NO.~t-~~ A RESOLUTION SCHEDULING BIEiNNIAL ELECTION OP CENTRAL PO]N"I' CITY Ol~'FICERS UN NOVEMBER 5. 2002 WHEREAS, the Central Point City Charter provides that regular City elections shall be held at the same times and places as biennial general state elections, and the next biennial state election is scheduled for November 5, 2002; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY "I~I IE CITY COUNCIL OF Tl Il:; CITY OF CENTRAL POIN"I, OREGON, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The biennial election of the City of Central Point, Oregon, shall be held concurrently with the general election of the State of Oregon on November 5, 2002, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, at which election the City shall elect a mayor, one council member from Ward I, one council member from Ward II, and one council member from Ward III. Section 2. The precincts and judges and clerks of election shall be the same as those provided within the City of Central Point, Oregon, for the statewide general election held on the same date. Section 3. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election, at least 10 days prior to the election, by posting notice thereof in a conspicuous place in the City Hal] and in one public place in each voting precinct of the City. The notice shall state the officers to he elected, the ballot title of each measure to be voted upon and the time and place of the election. Section 4. Al] candidates for the offices mentioned iu Section 1 above shall file their certificates or petitions of nomination with the City Administrator during normal business hours between Wednesday, August 7, 2002, and Tuesday, August 27, 2002.
