AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION TO SUBMIT TO THE
VOTERS A BALLOT MEASURE ON ANNEXATION TO THE ROGUE
VALLEY TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the City of Central Point Council has been
requested to submit to the voters a request to annex to the
regional public transportation service served by the Rogue Valley
Transportation District, Jackson County, Oregon; now, therefore,
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. It is hereby ordered that the Common Council
of the City of Central Point, Jackson County, Oregon, does hereby
call an election to be held at the polling place or places
designated by the County Clerk of such County, on March 30, 1982
between the hours of 8:.00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. for the. purpose of
submitting to the qualified voters of said City, the question of
whether the area within the boundaries of the City of Central
Point, not presently within the Rogue Valley Transportation
District, be annexed to the Rogue Valley Transportation District
for the purpose of receiving public transportation service from
the District, and
Section 2. The ballot title for such measure is adopted
as hereinafter set forth and the following are the ballot title and
form in which the foregoing measure will appear on the ballot:

ROGUE VALLEY TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT
QUESTION: Shall the City of Central Point annex to the Rogue
Valley Transportation District for bus service?
EXPLANATION: The City of Central Point does not have
regional public transportation service throughout the area
served by the Rogue Valley Transportation District. If annexed
to the District, bus. transportation will be available to and
from Central Point, White City, Medford, Jacksonville, Phoenix,
Talent and Ashland.
Section 3. Legal voters of the City of Central Point,
Oregon shall be entitled to vote in said election.
Section 4. Said election shall be held on the 30th day
of March, 1982 and the hours, polling places and officers for
said election shall be designated by the Jackson County Clerk
pursuant to law.
Section 5. The City Recorder is hereby ordered and
directed to give notice of said election by posting the notice
of election, in the form set forth below, in a conspicuous place
in the City:H~ll, Central Point, Oregon and in three public
places within the city at least 10 days prior to the date of
said election, and by publishing said notice once, at least 10
days prior to the date of said election in the Medford Mail
Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation. within the City of
Central Point, Oregon. The City Recorder is further ordered and
directed to keep copies of said measure to be voted upon at her
office for inspection by any legal voter of the city. The form
of notice of election. shall be as follows:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, March 30, 1982
an election will be held in Central Point, Jackson County,
Oregon. The polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The polling places for said election will be:
1. Central Point Elementary School Gymnasium
450 South Fourth Street
Central Point
2. Crater High School Gymnasium
4410 Rogue Valley Highway
Central Point
The following question will be submitted to the qualified
voters of the city:
CENTRAL POINT ANNEXATION
TO THE

Valley Transportation District for bus service?

The full measure is open for examination at the office
of the City Recorder, City Hall, Central Point, Oregon.

Section 6. This ordinance being necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety
of the City of Central Point, Oregon, in order that said
matter can be presented to the voters of the City at the March
30, 1982 election, second reading is hereby waived pursuant to
Municipal Code Section 2.04.020, and an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage.
