A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION AND
ION IN THE JACKSON JOSEPHINE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
SVEiEREAS, a formal organization is needed in Jackson and Josephine Counties
to review and comment on major transportation. issues, plans and projects, includ-
ing, but not limited to, the Oregon Department of Transportation's Six-Year Plan
update; and
WHEREAS, a Jackson-Josephine Transportation Committee has been formed,
composed of the professional staff of the cities of Jackson and Josephine Coun-
ties and the counties of Jackson and Josephine; and
WHEREAS, the City has from time to time been concerned with coordinated
development of appropriate traffic arterials to provide for the transportation
needs of the residents, inhabitants and businesses; and
WHEREAS, representatives of the municipalities of Jackson and Josephine
Counties recognize the need to coordinate their efforts through an organization
established for such purpose; and
WHEREAS, the major priority of the Committee is to prepare a coordinated
package of City/County transportation project improvements; to recommend to the
Oregon Transportation Commission in 1990; and
WHEREAS, endorsement of this City/County transportation package by all
cities and the counties of Jackson and Josephine will strengthen our shared
interests and positions in improving our communities; transportation. network
within the region,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL
POINT, hereby approves participation in the Jackson-Josephine Transportation
Cormnittee and appoints Larry Blanchard. as the .representative and Randy Kugler as
the alternate representative. These representatives are to act as liason be-
tween said organization and the City Council.
