HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1516ORDINANCE N0. 1516 AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE BIENNIAL ELECTION FOR CITY ELECTIVE OFFICERS TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1984 THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. On the sixth day of November,. 1984, between the hours of 8:00 o°clock a.m. and 8:00 o°clock p.m. Pacific Standard Time there shall be a biennial election with the City of Central Point, Oregon, at which time and place the legal voters of said City shall elect the following officers thereof: 1. Mayor 2. One (1) Councilmember from Ward IV 3. Two (2) Councilmembers at large Section 2. The precincts, precinct polling places and judges and clerks of election shall be the same as those provided within the City of Central Point, Oregon, for the statewide general election to be held on the same date. Section 3. The Gity Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election by posting notice thereof at a conspicuous place in the. City Hall and in one public place in each voting precinct of the City. The notice shall state the officers to be elected, the ballot title of each measure to be voted upon and the time and place of the election. Section 4. All candidates for said offices shall file with the City Administrator on or before 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, August 10, 1984, their certificate of nomination or petition of nomination in accordance with the Charter and ordinances of the City. Section 5. This ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the City of Central Point, Oregon, in order that sufficient time be granted to solicit petitions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinances shall be in full force and effect immediately.
