HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1394ORDINANCE NO. 1394 AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE VOTES CAST AT THE SPECIAL ELECTION OF JUNE 24, 1980 ON THE QUESTION OF THE RECALL OF COUNCILMEMBER RICHARD HALLEY WHEREAS, a special election was held in Ward 3 of the City of Central Point, Oregon, on June 24, 1980, pursuant to the Order of the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for Jackson County, entered in connection with the election contest filed therein on the basis of substantial irregularities having occurred during the May 7, 1980 Ward 3 recall election of councilmember Richard Halley, and WHEREAS, the results of said court ordered election of June 24, 1980 have been received from the Jackson County Clerk as set forth below, and the Central Point City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on June 26, 1980 and did, during said meeting, consider the returns of said special election, now, therefore, THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the votes cast by electors in Ward 3 of the City of Central Point, Oregon on the question of recalling councilmember Richard Halley at the special election of June 24, 1980 be, and the same are hereby found, determined and declared to be as follows: For the recall 66 votes Against the recall 56 votes Total votes cast 122 votes Majority in favor of recall (yes or no) yes Page 1 - Ordinance No. 1394 Section 2. Pursuant to the foregoing election results, as canvassed, it is hereby declared that Richard Halley be, and he is hereby, recalled from office, and that the position of councilmember for Ward 3 of the City of Central Point, Oregon be, and the same is hereby, declared vacant. Passed by the Council and signed by me in authentication of its passage this 10th day of July 1980.
