HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Resolution 1000RESOLUTION NO. t~l`~O -~ A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST IS FURTHERED BY THE SALE OF CITY PROPERTY, KNOWN AS TFIE OLD FIRE HALL AT 30 SOUTH TFIIRD STREET IN THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT WHEREAS, Oregon Revised Statues 271.310 grants political subdivisions who control real property the power to sell, exchange, convey or lease all or auy part of their interest in the property to a governmental body or private individual or corporation; and WHEREAS, that real property may be transferred whenever it is not needed for public use, or whenever the public interest maybe furthered; and WHEREAS, the City has had the Old Fire Hall at 30 South Third Street appraised with the intention of selling it to someone for a higher and better use; and WHEREAS, the City has been approached by a private party who is willing to pay the appraised value and whom the City believes will further the public interest by further investing in and revitalizing the aforementioned building; and WHEREAS, the City of Central Point wishes to 1) exercise its power under state statute, 2) implement Strategic Plan Strategies to `attract new businesses to downtown' and 3) act in the best interest of local citizens by offering the Old Fire Hall for sale to a private party; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT, OREGON that the public interest is furthered by the sale of the Old Fire Hall at 30 South Third Street.
