PLANNING CCMMISSION October 31, 1967
REGULAR MEETING 8:00 P.M.
Members Present: Cox, Taylor, Langston, Novosad, and Freeman Mason.
Mayor Bartley and Councilman Ayres were also in attendance.
Meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Lew Cox. The minutes of
the previous meeting were read and approved.
1. A letter from Mrs. Dominic Tate, 447 Cedar Street, was read, which
suggested the change of the name of South 4th Street and South 5th Street in
the 700 block, to eliminate the confusion in locating addresses. This
was accepted as a very good suggestion. A motion was made by Novosad to
send this to the City Council for the renaming of the two Streets.
2nd by Taylor. Motion Carried.
2. Discussion of a Uniform curb and gutter Ordinance for the City of
Central Point; also the installation of weep-holes installed at the
time of installing curbs and gutters. A Motion was made by Langston to
adopt the specifications set by the City of Medford, for Curbs and Gutters,
and send to City Council for approval. 2nd by Novosad. Motion carried.
A Motion was made by Novosad to recommend to the City Council to make
an amendment to the Subdivision Ordinance, and possibly the building code,
for the installation of 2 weep-holes, 4" in diameter to each City Lot.
2nd by Taylor. Motion Carried.
3. Mr. Jack Raiche, of the Federal Sign and Signal Corporation, 619 S.
Fir Street, Medford, Oregon, was present to aid in the discussion of
Sign Ordinances in preparation of adopting an Ordinance for the City of
Central Point: Mr. Raiche explained some of the features which should
be covered in a good sign ordinance. Mr. Mason read the Ordinance
which is now used by the City of Grants Pass. Copies of this ordinance
will be made for each member to study prior to drafting an ordinance
for this City.
As there was no further business, the meeting was declared adjourned.
