Meeting called to order by President Askwith at $:00 PM, ,P
Reading of minates dispensed with by request of Chairman Askwith. Of
old business there was none to consider in the absence of minutes of
previous meeting.
Of new business a preliminary plat was' presented by Vic Noel
covering Mrs. Lela Lamb property for sub-division. Motion was made by
Joe Edwards ,. second by B Kincaid that preliminary plat marked Exhibit"All
and dated March 12, 1956, Ue accepted with the following altered details :
that ;the street shown as. 50 ft width be increased to 60 ft by addition
of 5 ft to northerly and southerly sides; and that portion shown as
Lela Lamb property be reserved from any .use untill .such time .as the pro-
perty .adjoining on the ''south side of said :Lamb property, now ov:med by
Orville Hamilton, be subdivided or otherwise brought into residential use;
the thought .being that said odd shaped parcel will then by alteration of
dimensions, be more properly suited for .building �lot or lots. Motion
carried by unanimous vote,., .
Considerable discussion followed pro and .con concerning conflict
of activity and authority between the newly proposed Jackson County
Planning Commission and City Plannign Commissions and in particular the
Central Point Planning Commission, The ,opinion was voiced by-, Commissioner
Obenchain and concurred .in by all othersmembers, that a special meeting
should be held to give close scrutiny to the many; possibilities and
to formulate a definite statement for submission to the Common Council,
embodying recommendations for establishing, defining and preserving
Planning ,Commission influence and rulings. .Accordingly, President ASk-
with set the hour of 7:30 PM March .26, 1956 ds the time for that special
meeting.. .
Mr. Robert Padgett then appeared ,before the meeting representing
one Roy Hutchins with a request for exception to the setback rule apply-
ing to proximity of building to side lines. The request was- denied by
roll call for the reason that such exceptions are contrary to established .
precedent and no just cause was shown for any exception whatsoever.
The Commission then engaged in .lon- discussion of lac'ation of the ;.
underpass offered to the City of Central Point by State Highway Commission
when constructing the proposed freeway. No action was proposed or taken
but was .instead tabled' .for study at a later: me®ting.
There being no further busineds for. consideration, motion was
. offered by Commissioner Obenchain with second by COMmissioner Edwards
to adjourn. Carried. 11:00 PM
