Meeting called to order at 8:10 PM by President Askwith. Roll Call
was requested and recorded as above, with Art ,Rupp ..serving as ex officio
to complete an acting quorum. (At this point Commissioner Kincaid arives)
Minutes of the last meeting, which was held December 3 , 1953 , were called
for and read and approved without change or correction.
Old business presented before the Commission was a continuation of
discussion of the preliminary plat of Geo. Gilman sub-division as recorded
in minutes of meeting of December 3 ,1953 . Reconsideration of the 30 ft
set back requirement was pequested by the said Geo. Gilman, thru his rep-
resentative, Lee Pinkham. On a certain corner lot the 30 ft setback would
be excessive because it would so reduce the useable area of the lot that
it would be of no value. After considerable 'discussion of need- and con-
sequencg, motion was made by. Commissioner Kincaid and seconded by Commiss-
ioner Edwards, that the setback requirement be reduced to 15 ft on that
unnamed short street which is platted at right angles to the longest street.
Carried.
New business presented was a petition by Mr. Norris requesting re-
zoning of all of block 12 and the easterly one half of', block 13 from zone
1 to Zone II. Intensive thought and consideration was duly given the appli-
cation with careful reference to the applicable provisions of Ordinance 304
Out of- these deliberations came the conclusion that since the manufacture
of any product, whatever in any quanity above that required for fttail disc
position entirely on the premises, is. forbidden expressly and by inference
in Zone II. the type of manufacture intended by Mr. Norris,, should be
conducted in Zone III. Accordingly, .motion was made by Commissioner Edwards,
seconded by Commissioner Kincaid, that 'the .Planning Commission reccommend
to the Common Council, .that 'that body refresh its understanding of the
provisions for Zone uses and restrictions of .Ordinance 304 in light of peti-
tions for changes and if advisable; suggest to 'this particular applicant
that he procure property for his enterprise in the zone' set aside for his
use. Carried by unanimous vote:
There being at the present time an inadiquate number of copies of
Ordinance 304 for official and cmtizen reference and use, motion was made
by Commissioner Kincaid, with second .to the' motion by'Commissioner Edwards,
that Art Rupp be directed to have typed a number of copies of the aforesaid
Ordinance 304.
There being no further business before kthe Commission, motion was made
by Commissioner Dysinger that the meeting adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner
Kincaid and carried. 9:50 PM.
