Commission
June 27, 1973
Chairman Bowers opened the meeting as an adjourned meeting of the regular meeting
of the Commission held on June 19, 1973 at 7:37 P.M.
Present were Members Damon, Mayes, Wegs, Zieser, McManama, Hull and Chairman
' Bowers. Absent were Members Bradshaw and Banks.
The first matter to come before the Commission was the petition of the Sargeant,
Ehrhardt and Richards' properties for annexation to the City. After a general
discussion of property sizes, methods of providing water and sewer and who would
bear such costs, which indicated there would be no ultimate cost to the City even
though some water lines are presently being constructed to the advantage of the
City a motion was made by McManama, seconded by Zieser that the Commission recom-
mend to the City Council that this property be annexed to the City with an R-1-8
Zoning instead of the R-1-6 as requested. This change in zoning was recommended
as it was compatible with the City's Land Use Plan recently adopted by both the
Planning Commission and the Council. Motion was carried by a unanimous affirmative
vote of the Commissionmembers present. It is also recommended that the City Council
include the matter of Zoning in the Public Hearing to be held on the annexation.
The petition to annex six lots lying on the east side of Freeman Road just south
e of the Greenbriar Mobile Home Park was next presented. It was pointed out that
one house was vacant and the owner could not be contacted. Another property was
against the annexation and the remaining four were in favor of annexation. Here
too, the matter of water and sewer was discussed. Prior approval for water service
was evidenced by a letter from the City of Medford Water Commission. The alterna-
tives for sewage Were explored. On a motion by Hull, seconded by Damon the Commiss-
ion recommends the annexation of these properties to the City with the property-
owners to pay the total cost of the installation of .the sewage system and the system
is to be designed to connect with the Greenbriar Mobile Home Park line and the
properties are to be zoned R-1-8. Motion carried by an affirmative vote of all
members present.
The request of N.A. Mead to rezone from R-1-7 to R-1-8 the property of the
Church of Christ and a portion of the Doboit Way Annexation was next brought
up for consideration, but it was pointed out that the Planning Commission had
previsouly set July 17th as a date of public hearing.
The recording tape having expired, it was declared to be necessary to adjourn
the meeting. On a motion by McManama, seconded by Zieser, the meeting was ad-
journed at 9:25 P.M.
