In the absence of a Chairman, Ray Novosad was Acting Chairman. Reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with at this time. Howard B. Tally, new member of the Planning Commission was introduced at this time. He will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Bill Langston. 1 . Nominations open for Chairman and Vice Chairman. Pay George nominated Byron Rackes for Chairman and Ray Novosad for Vice- Chairman. McManama made a motion that nom?nati.ons be cioced. 2nd by Tally. Motion Carried. The Secretary was instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for the nominees. Ry unanimous vote, Chairman of the Planning Commission is Byron Rackes, and Vice Chairman is Ray Novesad. 2. Joyce and Allen Forrette, Town and Rural Properties, requesting a variance for 252 S. 2nd Street, to allow 6 units instead of the authorized 5. A public hearing would be required for this request. A motion was made by Backes to call for a public Hearing, to be set for the next meeting date, May 25, 1971 . 2nd by McManama. Motion Carried. 3. Crater Iron, Inc. requested a zone change, to rezone lots 6, 7, P, 91 , 10, and 11 of Block 3 Oak Park Addition from M-1 (Industrial.-Limited) to M-2 (Indust.rial-General) . (Howard-Cooper Property) A motion was made by Novosad to call for a Public Hearing, on Ay 25, 101 . 2nd by George, idotion Carried. Tentative approval given by the Planning Commission pending the out- come of the Public Hearing and if no problems arise. 4. A petition (37 signatures) presented for the rezoning of C-4 (Commercial Tourist) in the Eastern part of the City to R-2 (Two Family Residence) . Referred by City Council April 20, 1971 . After a study of the area and the home owners represented on the petition, it was decided to table this request and continue it at a later date. A motion was made by Novosad to continue this this request. 2nd by Tally. Motion carried. 5. Central Point Plywood Sales, reouested the City to abandon and vacate that portion of an Alley which adjoins lots 1 , 2, 3, & 4, and lots 11 , 12, 13, 14, end- 15 of Block 2, Cak ParY ,Addi.tion. This subject has been up for discussion in-the past, and it was decided to have an "Cn-sight" inspection before any decision could be made.
