Also present: Tucker, Tate, Capps. The Common Council met in special adjourned session with Mayor Burton presiding. Mayor Burton appointed Lorain Tate, Recorder pro tem, in the absence. of Edward Zander, Recorder. City Administrator Tucker discussed with the council the possibility of extending a 12 inch sanitary sewer line from the Southerly end of south Second Street, across property at the Crater Osteopathic Hospital, to South First Street. This would be.for future service on South First Street. Possibility of a launderette being installed in the Central Point Plaza, would necessitate increasing the size of the sewer line in the area. .The elevations would have to be checked, and an easement would have to,be obtained from the owners of Crater Osteopathic Hospital. Bryce Townley, city engineer, had given and estimate of $50.00 to check the elevations. The council was 'all in favor and advised the City Administrator to have the engineer proceed with checking the elevations.. . Mr. Tucker asked the council if they wanted to purchase the second , pump for the main sewer plant, as budgeted. It was moved by Tonn, second Hill to order and install the second pump. All in.favor. Motion carried. Vern Capps, Public Works Supt., told the council the curbs on Bigham (from Oak to Chestnut) need to be replaced. They were installed with a reverse slant. Since he is reconstructing the street at this time, he felt the curbs should be replaced to make it a proper street. He suggested funds be transferred to this project from the Bush Street budget, since it would not be used this year.. Some of the funds had been used for the project on South First Street (from Cedar to Bush St.). It was moved by Reed, second Hill to use Bush Street funds to replace the curbs on Bigham Drive (from Oak to Chestnut). All in favor. Motion carried. Mr. Tucker discussed salaries for the coming year. In order to have figures for the proposed budget, it would be necessary to have the councils recommendations on the per cent of raise to use. He had used a proposed 8% and some adjustments. The Recorders salary had not been included. Mr. Tucker was advised to use the 8~ and the adjustments to figure the estimates for the budget. Ther• Recorders salary would be discussed with Mr. Zander and the Adm. committee later. 1 Mayor Burton recommended appointing Frances Bessey, Deputy Recorder, instead of Lorain Tate, who had been in the past. He said he would like to keep Mrs. Tate as Administrative Assistant to the council. 3~~` Discussion. Harold Reed asked why a deputy recorder was needed, since the council seems to feel that the City Recorder fob was not a full time fob, and the Recorder was not receiving full salary. Mayor Burton said he only asked to have a deputy recorder to be available when the Recorder was absent due to illness or vacation. It was moved-by Tonn, second Hill to appoint Frances Bessey as deputy recorder. All in favor. Motion carried. There being no further business, it was moved and seconded the }meeting be ad3ourned to the call of the Mayor or the next regular meeting. All in favor.
