A RESOLUTION NAMING THE BANDSHELL AT TWIN CREEKS PARK AS THE
“MIKE PARSONS MEMORIAL BANDSHELL”
WHEREAS, Mike Parsons served the City of Central Point with distinction as a member
of the Central Point City Council, representing the community with integrity,
thoughtfulness, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, during his years of service, Mike Parsons demonstrated a deep
commitment to civic engagement, public safety, infrastructure, and the overall quality of
life for all residents; and
WHEREAS, beyond his elected service, Mike Parsons contributed extensively to the
community through volunteerism and leadership on numerous boards and committees,
including but not limited to the Central Point Parks & Recreation Foundation, Rogue
Valley Sewer Services Board of Directors, Central Point Development Commission,
Central Point Budget Committee, and public safety organizations; and
WHEREAS, Mike Parsons was widely known for his collaborative spirit, steady
leadership, and genuine care for the people of Central Point; and
WHEREAS, following his passing in 2025, the City of Central Point wishes to honor and
memorialize his lasting contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, the bandshell at Twin Creeks Park serves as a gathering place for
concerts, festivals, and community celebrations, making it an appropriate and
meaningful location to honor a leader who dedicated his life to bringing people together
and strengthening the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has established procedures and guidelines for naming
public lands and facilities through Resolution No. 1138, “A Resolution Providing for
Public Procedures and Guidelines for Naming Public Lands and Facilities”; and
WHEREAS, the Central Point Parks and Recreation Commission, at its November 6,
2025 meeting, approved naming the Twin Creeks Park Bandshell in honor of Mike
Parsons and forwarded the recommendation to the City Council for final consideration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Central Point,
Oregon:
SECTION 1. The bandshell located at Twin Creeks Park is hereby officially named the
“Mike Parsons Memorial Bandshell.”

SECTION 2. City staff are authorized and directed to take all necessary actions to
implement this resolution, including updating signage, maps, and official records as
appropriate.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
