JUNE 3, 1996
I. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER at 7:00 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL -Those present were Glen Brady, Jan Dunlap, Candy Fish, Bob Gilkey,
John Le Gros, Mindy Martin and Dawn Neal.
III. CORRESPONDENCE -There was no correspondence.
IV. MINUTES -There were no Minutes as this was the initial meeting of the Parks
Commission.
V. PUBLIC APPEARANCES -There were no public appearances.
VI. .BUSINESS
Jim Bennett, Planning Director, outlined the duties and responsibilities of the Parks
Commission and distributed copies of the Parks Master Plan and related .documents.
He further discussed the systems development charges (SDC) for parks and park
improvements.
® Mayor McGrath expressed the City Council's interest in reestablishing the Parks
Commission and appointed Bob Gilkey to be the chairperson.
The Parks Commission then discussed the location of suitable sites for parks
development and how to go .about acquiring them. They also reviewed the parks
systems development charges and the proposed parks budget.
Dave Kucera, City Administrator, indicated that revisions may be necessary to the
Parks Master Plan and the Parks SDC formula to show additional properties that may
be .considered for park development and their associated costs.
The Parks Conunission directed staff to lank into the feasibility of acquiring grants
to assist the .City in developing park sites. They also asked that the City Attorney
review the applicability of the open meeting laws to the Parks Commission.
The next meeting of the Parks Commission was scheduled for Monday, .July 15,
1996, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
VII. ADJOURNMENT -The meeting was adjourned by consensus at 8:10 p.m.
