of working with the council for the past several years. He
considered this an honor of being Mayor of this City. He then
told the incoming Mayor and Council of some of the problems that
they will face in the next few years.
Mayor Faber read the oath of office to the Mayor elect, Freeman
Mason, the recorder, Lyle Paull, and the new councilmen,
Bigham, Colley, and Patterson. Mr. Faber them turned over
to the new Mayor the key to the City Hall. Mayor Freeman

The Council discussed the matter of a suitable meeting night
for the next two years. After discussion, a motion was made by
Setness, second by Saxbury that the Council set the first Tuesday
of each month for the regular meeting night. The motion was
carried.
Mr. Teets, came to the Council with a problem regarding the water
service at 55 S. 2nd Street. One meter serves two (2) houses. At
the time this service was installed this belonged to one owner.
It has since been divided with Mr. Teets owning one part and Mr.
Mead owning the balance. Mr. Teets would like for the City to
cause Mr. Mead to install a separate meter and assume all costs.
The council tabled the matter for further study.
Don Faber told the council of some con
tSicts he had made with
,1 Mr. & Mrs. Ditch about the right ofway across the front of their
property on the North side of Hazel Street near 10th. The City
needs some of this frontage to be able to install 40 foot street
through to 10th.
Mayor Mason presented eight names to the Council for Planning
Committee members. The were as follows: Mr. Lovejoy, incumbent,
Dale Bartley, Frank Bruce, Harry Tonn, John Smock, Jerry Bianconi,
Vic Noel, E. R. Yocom, and C. V. Bowers. Those selected by the
Council and approved by the Mayor were: Lovejoy, Bartley, Tonn,
Smock, Bianconi, and Noel.
L Mr. Boyden, who represented Mr. Watkins a local engineer, told
the Council of approximately 175 feet of curb on North 2nd street
between Maple and Cherry that is so low and flat that the water
stands. This will have to be replaced when paved. Mr. Boyden
suggested some valley gutters ^ather than catch 'u -sins on South
2nd Street. This might eliminate some cost in the futur?. He
_ also told the Council of the need of a storm sewer North from
Hazel to Mazama.
The Mayor opened nominations for Council chairman. Al Setness
and Les Bigham were nominatee. Voting by ballot elected Mr.
Bigham. three (3) votes to (2).for Mr. Setness.
Mr. Kent Blackhurst's name was submitted to the Council for
reappointment by the Mayor. A motion by Setness, second by
Bigham, that Mr. Blackhurst be reappointed as City Attorney was
presented. Motion carried.
Mr. Patterson made a motion , second by Setness that the appoint-
ment of Police Chief and Fire Chief be tabled until the next
meeting. Motion carried.
