HomeMy WebLinkAboutCM 040759r 397 Central Point, Oregon City Hall April 7, 1959 The Common Council met in adjourned regular session with Mayor Mason presiding. Roll Call found: Bigham, Chia=, Colley, Patterson, Saxbury, and Setness present. None absent. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and a motion made by Patterson, second by Setness, the minutes be adopted as read. Motion carried. A report was made by Mr. Setness and Mayor Mason regarding a meet- ing with Elk City Water District. It was felt that the City can- not accept the present offer of the Elk City District. Mr. Jim Smith came to the Council with a request for and easement for a road across property owned by the City in the Old StageRoe'i District. It was suggested by the Council that Les Bigham, and Lyle Paull take a look over the property and dbide what would be best for all concerned. Mr. Burl Johnson came to the Council to discuss reasons why his house on Laurel at 5th should not be torn down as directed. Mr. J hnson told the Council that he felt he had been done wrong. That tRe council were butting into his affairs. Mr. Patterson asked what repairs would be made if allowed to stand. Mr. Johnson, stated he would put on a new roof, paint and remodel the inside. The Council told Mr. Johnson that he should submit a plan to Mr. Paull of the improvements intended and the time within which it would be completed. Mayor Mason read Ord.#tJO to the Council, this being an Ord. replacing Section #1 of Ord. #216 regarding cleaning up the town. A motion was made by Saxbury, second by Bigham the Ord. be adopted. Roll call vote as follows: Bigham, Chisum, Colley,Patterson,Setness, Saxbury, Ayes. Motion carried. Ord.#488 was ready by Saxbury, this being an Ord. creating the office of Administrator. A motion was made by Chisum, second by Patterson that Ord#488 be adopted. Roll call vote'as follows: Ayes; Bigham, Chisum,Colley,Patterson,Saxbury, and Setness. Motion carried. A discussion was held by the Council regarding the construction of curbs and asphalt surface on N. Second Street. The cou coil elt that it was unnecessary to put in 7" of base rock plus ' ofdgranite under the asphalt surface. It was decided that Les Bigham and Lyle Paull should draw up specs for surfacing N. Second. The Council approved Lyle Paull and Jim Corliss going to the traffic court Conference in Eugene April 23-24-25. 1'.398 Mr. Kent Blackhurst read Ord. #489 setting a hearing date for the approval of the Plans and Specs for a new City Hall,the date - April 21,1959 at 7:30P.M. A motion was made by Saxbury,second by Colley that the above Ord. be ' adopted. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes; Bigham,Chisum,Colley, Patterson, Saxbury, and Setness. Motion carried, Ord.#489 adopted. A motion was made by Setness,second by Colley that we accept the petition for asphalt paving on Cherry Street, between 4th and 7th. Motion carried. A motion was made by Patterson,second by Setness that we adjourn until 7:30 P.M. on April 21,1959. Motion carried.
