The Commom Council met in adjourned regular session with Mayor Mason
Ment;
Roll call found: Bigham, Chisum, Colley, Setness present;
Absent; Patterson.
The minutes of the previous meeting was read and a motion was made by
Bigham ,Second by Colley ,that the minutes be approved as read.
Motion carried.
The bills were read and approved by the Council. A motion was made by
Saxbury, second by Chisum that the bills be approved and warrants drawn
on the various funds for same.

Ord. #504 was read by Mayor Mason, this being an Ord, causing all traffic
to STOP on Oak Street at 7th. A motion was made by Setness,second by Colley,
that the7rd.#504 be adopted. Roll call vote: Ayes; Bigham,Colley,
Saxbury, Setness. Nays; none. Motion carried. Ord.#504 adopted.
Ord. #505 was read by Mayor Mason,this being an amendments for Ord.#497
or the purpose of establishing an interest rate of .04%. Motion was
made by Setness I second Bigham, that Ord. #505 be adopted. Roll call:
Ayes; Bigham, Colley, Saxbury, Setness. Nays; none. Ord. #505 adopted.
Ord. #506 was read by Mayor Mason, this being an amendment for Ord.#498,
for the purpose of establishing an interest rate of .04%. Motion was
made by Saxbury, second Setness that Ord. #506 be adopted. Roll call
vote: Ayes; Bigham, Colley, Saxbury, Setness. Nayes; none.
The Council approved the loan of two (2) old check protectors and an old
mimeo. machine to the Jacksonville Museum.
The Council approved giving the City employees a three (3) day holiday
July 3-4-5,1959. Mewtirg adjourned to the call of the Mayor.
June 7,1959
The Mayor,Freeman Mason,the City Recorder,Lyle Paull, and City clerk,
Lorain Tate, met the Pony Express rider on Sunday Morning,June 7,1959
in front of the City Hall at the corner of Pine Street and Second Street.
They delivered the mail from the City Hall that was designated to leave
on this date. We had 34 pieces of mail, one of which was addressed
back to Mayor Mason, and will be placed in the corner stone of the new
City Hall which is to be built soon. The Pony Express mail delivery was
part of the centennial celebration of the 100th anniversary of the
Statehood of the State of Oregnn. The mail was carried from a Stockade
on the Siskiyou summit, about 12 miles South of Ashland, Ore.,to the
Josephine County line. It was carried by the Ashland Sage Riders, saddle
club of Ashland. They left the stockade at 8:00 A.M.,arrived in Central
Point at 9:38 A.M. and left at 9:40A.M.

The following were inadvertently left out of the above minutes
when they were typed into the minute book, and are aorrect as stated.
A petetion for curbs and paving on 8th street between Hazel and }
block south of Pine was presented to the council.
A potibn::was made by Colley second by Bigham the petition be app-
roved and placed
on file. Motion carried.
