HomeMy WebLinkAboutCM 072359City Hall, Central Point, Oregon July 23, 1959 The common council met in special adjourned session with Mayor ' Mason presiding. Present Bigham, Chisum, Colley, Saxbury, Setness, absent - Patterson. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of the construction of a swimming pool in Central Point, and the initial stages of such a project. Mr. George Evans and Mr. Lyle Walther met with the council to discuss engineering and the raising of funds, material, and labor for a community project. Mr. Evans volunteered to head the drive for funds and materials. Mr. Walther who is a retired engineer volunteered his services gratis. He will draw up the necessary plans and specs, also estimates. to make this an official start a motion was made by Saxbury second by Setness that Mr. Evans and Mr. Walther be appointed by,the council as a committee of two, to get all costs, appoint all committees, and make such other arrangements as t:.3y deem necessary for the"Community Swimming Pool Project." The recorder was instructed to contact the state health athor- ities for requirements and standards that must be met. As soon as sufficient progress is made to warrant another meeting- Mr. Evans will call one and the planning Commission - will meet with the council and the committee. Ordinance #517 was read to the council by the recorder, this being an ordinance accepting the bid of M.C. Lininger and sons for the construction of curbs, grading and asphalt surface on South second between Bush and the south city limits. A motion was made by Setness second by Colley that Ord. #517 be adopted.Roll call vote as follows: ayes Bigham, Chisum, Colley, Saxbury and Setness. Nays, none. Mayor Mason declared Ordinance # 517 duly adopted. There being no more business, the meeting was declared adjourned to the call of the Mayor, or to Aug. 4th, 1959.
