HomeMy WebLinkAboutCM 120159436 Fire Chief Turner told the need for more water for fire protection. The pressures in the summer is dangerously low. It was decided to appoint a water and sewer committee to make a study of the water and sewer problems and report to the Council on their findsing. Mayor , Mason appointed Patterson, Colley and Bigham to contact the Medford Water Board regards the possibility of working with them for add- itional water also to study the sewer system needs. Mayor Mason read a request of Joh Gallucci for an additional liquor license for his proposed cafe. A motion was made by Colley,second by Saxbury that the request be granted. Motion carried. A request for renewal of his liquor dispensors license was presented by Ben Anderson. A motion was made by Saxbury, second by Chisum that the license be renewed. Motion carried. Patterson made a motion,second by Bigham, that we request funds from the State Highway Commission for work on East Pine -10th to Freemand Rd. Motion carried. A motion was made by Bigham, second by Colley, that we request that the First National Bank grant us additional funds on protested warrants for the improvements of Oak and Hazel streets. A motion was made by Saxbury,second by Patterson, that an Ordinance be drawn authorizing the call for bids on the sale of the present City property,Block 10,Lot 1. Motion carried. A motion was made by Patterson,second by Chisum, that we adjourn to , the call of the Mayor or to the next regular meeting night. Motion carried. The Council approves the request, and the Recorder was instructed to fill out and sign the application blank. Mayor Mason read a recommendation of the Planning Commission that the Council take action to study the future needs of the City for water and sewer. Recommendation as follows: 11/31/59 The Planning Commission hereby makes two recommendations to the City Council: 1. We recommend that the Council conduct, or have conducted, a survey in regard to our current water situation and future needs with the possibility of obtaining our own system to relieve our dependence on Medford, and ; 2. We further recommend that the Council investigate the possibility of obtaining the Peter Kiewitt property, or other adjoining or available property, with the prospect in mind of constructing our own sewage disposh- system (lagoon type). Roll call found: Bigham,Chisum,Colley, Saxbury, and Ayres present. Absent: Patterson. Mayor Mason read the oath of Office to Mr. Chester Ayres, as a councilman to replace Al Setness, who resigned. Mr. Ayres was duly declared to be a councilman. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and a motion was made by Colley, second by Patterson that the minutes be approved. Motion carried. The Financial report was read. A motion was made by Chisum,Second by Saxbury that the Financial report be approved. Motion carried. The following bills were presented for audit to the council. A motion was made by Patterson,second by Chisum that the bills be approved and warrants be drawn on the proper funds to cover the amounts named in the bills. Motion carried.
