The question of plaster or acoustical tile on the new City Hall was
brought to the Council. J. Robison told the Council there would not
be over $50.00 difference. The Council approved installing the tile.
A question of paving South Sixth Street from Alder to the alley,toward
Ash Street, was submitted. The Council approved it at such a time as
the three blocks on Alder are paved.
Tom Whittle came to the Council to didcuss the possibility of approval
for constructi0nof a Rest Home on South First Street between Oak and
Alder. The .plan has been approved by the planning commission, though
a request for 15 foot setback on the front of the building (facing
First Street) was rejected, by the Planning Commission. Mr. Whittle
discussed at considerable length the various problems concerned in
building a home for the aged.
A motion was made by Ayers, second By Colley, the building be allowed,
also variance of setback to allow 15 feet on front. Motion approved.
8:00 P.M. HEARING ON STREET IMPROVEMENTS:
for the following streets:
South 2nd. -Pine to Bush --Paving only. Open for didcussion. Since
there were no objections to the improvements, a motion was made by Bigham,
second by Patterson that the improvements be made. Motion carried.

Hazel Street -Third to Tenth -Paving and concrete curbs. Mr. Herbert
Trautman came to discuss with the Council the paving project on Hazel.
Mr. Don E. Faber balked to the Council favoring paving. Mr. Joe
' McCalvy also favored it. A motion was made by Ayers, second by
Chisum that the improvements be made., since there were no objections.
Motion carried.

Oak Street -Front to Seventh.. Open for discussion. Since there were
no objections, a motion was made by Saxbury,second by Colley that
the improvements be made. Motion carried.
First Street -Pine to Oak. Paving andconcrete curbs. Open for
discussion. Since there were no objections, a motion was made
by Patterson, second by Ayers that the improvements be made.
Motion carried.
Third Street -Pine to Oak, paving only. Open for discussion.
Since there were no objections, a motion was made by Colley,second
by Chisum that the improvements be made. Motion carried.
Mr. Faber discussed with the Council the need of water for
additional annexation on the North side of town. Several property
owners would like to annex if water would be available. Mr. C.V.
Bowers said he felt the City should look to the future for water
and sewer service of our own rather than depend upon Medford.
Ord.#541 was read, this being an Ord, authorizing and ordering
the improvement of South Second,Pine to Bush Street by asphalt
paving, the assessment of cost against property benefitted by
such improvement. A motion was made by Saxbury,second by Ayers
that the Ordinance be adopted. Roll call: 'Ayss;Ayers, Bigham,Chisum,
Colley,Patterson,Saxbury. Ord. #541 declared duly adopted.
Ord. #542 was read, this being an Ord. authorizing and ordering
the improvement of Hazel Street -Third to Tenth by asphalt paving
and concrete curbs, the assessment of cost against property benefitted
by such improvement. A motion was made by Patterson, second Chisum
that the Ordinance be adopted. Roll call: Ayes; Ayers, Bigham,Chisum,
Colley, Patterson, Saxbury. Ord. #542 declared duly adopted.
Ord. #543 was read, this being an Ord. authorizing and ordering
the improvement of Oak Street -Front to Seventh Street by asphalt
paving and concrete curbs, the assessment of cost against property
benefitted by such improvement. A motion was made by Ayers,second
Bigham,that the ordinance be adopted. Roll call: Ayes,Ayers, Bigham,
Chisum, Colley, Patterson, Saxbury. Ord. #543 declared duly adopted.
Ord. #544 was read, this being an Ord. authoriling and ordering
the improvement of First Street -Pine to Oak Street by asphalt paving
and concrete curbs, the assessment of cost against property benefitted
by such improvement. A motion was made by Chisum, second Pattersmn
that the Ordinance be adopted. Roll call: Ayes; Ayers, Bigham, Chisum,
Colley, Patterson, Saxbury. Ord. $544 declared duly adopted.
Ord! #545 was read, this being an Ord. authorizing and ordering
the improvement of Third Street -Pine to Oak Street by asphalt paving,
the assessment of cost against property benefitted by such improvement.
A motion was made by Colley, second Chisum that the Ordinance be adopted
Roll call: Ayes; Ayers, Bigham,Chisum,Colley,Patterson, Saxbury.

Ord. #546 was read, this being an Ordinance directing the City Recorder
to call for bids for the asphalt paving of South Second Street -Pine to
Bush.,A..Mbtioh7.was..madq by Patterson, second by Ayers that the Ord.
be adopted. Roll call: Ayes; Ayers, Bigham, Colley, Chisum, Patterson, '
Saxbury. Ord. #546 declared duly adopted.
Ord. #547 was read, this being an Ord, directing the City Recorder
to call for bids for the excavation, grading, construction of curbs
and asphalt paving of Hazel Street -Third to Tenth Street. A motion
was made by Patterson,second Colley that the Ord. be adopted. Roll
call: Ayes, Ayers, Chisum, Bigham, Colley, Patterson, Saxbury.
Ord. #547 duly adopted. -
Ord. #548 was read, this being an Ord. directing the City Recorder
to call for bids for the excavation, grading, construction of curbs
and asphalt paving of First Street -Pine to Oak Street. A motion
was made by Saxbury,second by Chisum that the Ord. be adopted. Roll
call; Ayes, Ayers, Bigham, Chisum, Colley, Patterson, Saxbury.
Ord. #548 declared duly adopted.
Ord. #549 was read, this being an Ord, directing the City Recorder
to call for bids for the necessary excavation, grading and asphalt
paving of Third Street=Pine to Oak Street. A motion was made by
Ayers, Second Chisum that the Ord. be adopted. Roll call: Ayes;
Ayers, Bigham, Chisum, Colley,Patterson,Saxbury. Ord. #549 duly
adopted.
The Council discussed constructing the City Hall walls of stacked
Bond type rather than regular lay. A motion was made by Patterson, ,
second Bigham, that the walls be constructed of stacked bond type.
Motion carried.
Mayor Mason appointed John Robison and Wayne King on the Budget
Committee. Council approved.
April 12th at 7:30 P.M. was set as a meeting night for a preliminary
study of the Budget.
The meeting was adjourned to the call of the Mayor. Meeting adjourned.
