The Common Council met in adjourned regular session with Mayor Mason presiding .
Roll call found: Ayers, Bigham, Colley, Saxburyq present.
Absent: Chia= and Patterson
The purpose of the meeting was a hearing on the City Budget.
Mayor Mason read Ordinance #554, this being an Ordinance for adopting
a budget for the Fiscal Year commencing July 1,1960, and levying taxes
for said fiscal year.
Ordinance No. 554
AN ORDINANCE adopting a budget for the Fiscal Year commencing July 1,1960,
and levying taxes for said fiscal year for General Municipal purposes and
for the payment of Bonded Debt of the City of Central Point, Oregon.
WHEREAS, a hearing was held by the Common Council of the City of Central
Point, on the let day of July,1960, upon the budget for said City for
the Fiscal Year commencing July 1,1960.
WHEREAS, said budget provides for a levy of taxes for said fiscal year
for General Municipal purposes in the amount of $37,152.00, and for the
payment of bonded debt in the amount of $2300.00 and
IIIIEREAS, said tax levy for General Municipal purposes consists of
$10,841.16 which is within the limitations on taxation imposed by Article
XI,Section II of the Constitution of the State of Oregon, and $24,010.84
which is outside said Constitutional limitations, and
WHEREAS, it has been computed that 20.8 mills levied upon the taxable
property within the City of Central Point, as authorized by Article XXXIII
of the Charter of said City, will provide a sum greater than the afore—
mentioned $24,010.84 and
1VUEREAS, the tax levies provided for in the budget so approved as aforesaid
do not excel limitations imposed by the Constitution of the State of
Oregon in an amount greater than is authorized by Article XXXIII of the
Charter of the City of Central Point, Oregon, now therefore:
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF CENTRAL POINT DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the Budget as published in the Medford Mail Tribune on
the 10th day of June and the 21st day of June is hereby adopted.
Section 2: That the taxes and other receipts of the City of Central Point
for the fiscal year commencing July 1,1960 be, and the same hereby are
appropriated to and for the respective purposes and in the same amounts
as set forth in the Budget for the said City of Central Point for the
fiscal year.
Section 3: That as authorized by law and by the Charter of the City of
Central Point, there is hereby levied upon the taxable property of said
City, as shown on the tax rolls of Jackson County, Oregon, for said tax
year, the sum of $37,152.00 as follows:
For Bonded Debt: $2,300.00
For General Municipal purposes: $10,841.16 within the 6$
limitation provided by Article XI,Sa:ction II of the

Constitution of the State of Oregon, and $24,010.64 out—
side said 6% limitation but within the continuing levy
of 15 mills authorized by Article XXXIII of the Charter
of the City of Central Point.
Section 4: The Recorder is hereby directed to certify to the Assessor
of ackson County, Oregon, the levies of taxes of the CitZ of Central
Point, in accordance with provisions of the Local BudgetL aw and of
the Ordinance.
Passed by Common Council and signed by me in open session in
authentication of its passage, this lot day of July,1960.

A motion was made by Bigham, second by Colley the Ordinance be adopted.
Roll call: Ayes; Ayers, Bigham, Colley, Saxbury. Ordinance adopted.
There being no more business, a motion "a made by Saxbury,second by
Aye ra that the meeting be adjourned to the call of the Mayor or to the
next regular meeting night. Motion carried.
