250 E. Fine Street Budget Meeting.
Central Point, Oregon May 20, 1969
The Common Councilmet in special adjourned session.
Present: Mayor Burton, Councilmen Bigham, Hill, Marasco, Reed, Tonn,
Van Horn; Recorder Zander; Tucker. Budget members; Ray George, Fern
Mills, Ray Novasad, Libby Pfaff, Roger Reynolds, Ernest Wisley. Absent;
none.
Mayor Burton thanked the Budget Committee members for accepting the
appointments and he~administered the oath of office to them.
Mayor Burton was nominated to serve as chairman of the. Budget Committee.
It was moved and seconded that-the nominations be closed and a unanimous
ballot be cast for Mayor Burton. The motion carried.
Ray Novasad was nominated to serve as secretary. It was moved and
seconded that the nominations be closed and a unanimous ballot be
cast for Mr. Novasad. The motion carried.
Mayor Burton delivered a Budget message in which he asked the committee
members to take an active part in considering and finalizing the budget
for the 1969-70 fiscal year, but in which he also stressed the need
for austerity in such budget. He explained the main features of the
budget document which had been given to each committee member and he
stated that such document had been prepared on the "cash basis".
Mayor Burton called attention to the placement of the city parks
expense in the street fund in the budget proposal whereas it has been
in the General Fund in prior years.
The committee set May 27, 1969 at 7:00 p.m. as the date and time for
the next meeting of the committee.
Administrator Tucker as budget officer went through the entire budget
line by line, explaining resources and requirements and ad3ustments
thereto.
The meeting, having convened at 7:00 p.m. dismissed at 9:00 p.m.
