Motion carried. , James A, Gardner, 260 N, 5th Street, had petitioned the Planning Commission for permission to .operate a Radio and TV P,epair,Shop in his residence. ,. The Planning Commission had approved, Motion Holbrook, second A4ushaney to approve the home business, P~lotion carried. Harold and Irene Kinney, 71S Laurel, had. petitioned the Planni_ngcommissi.on for permission to operate a kindergarten in their home, The PC, had approved.. NIrs, Kinney said. the Siaate Fire Marshall had inspected- the , premises, and ,had informed. her of the corrections she would have to make. Motion Adams, second Holbrook to approve the Kindergarten, subject to the approval of the Fire Cheef. Motion carried., Ordinance No. g3~ wa.s read, this being an Ordinance withdrawing certain annexed real property from the C. P, Rural Fire Protection District, Potion Robison, second. BartJ_ey to approve Ordinance No. 539, Motion carried., X Discussion--Mrs. Germann asked the council when they were goint,'to install water lines to her property on Scenic Ave, She understood it w8s to be installed. and.,Bancrofted, since she had presented. the petition: NIr. Mansfield said he had misunderstood what was to be done, He understood. the Germanns would take care of the installation of sewer and. water lines. I'`r. Glarren, engineer, will be contacted. to check the situation,' " hir, Art Adams, Adams Garage, 132 N, Front, came t.o the council to complain . about the Harley Cycle Shop next door to hi.m, being operated i.n,hazardous conditions. They are working on cycles, using ace torches, and the oil and.~gasoli_ne could. ignite, The building is not up to code to be'used for.`, this operatian in Fire Zone, I~4r, Adams said he had. contacted Mr,.Nlason and PRr., Turner, but had .received. no results. Fire Chief was instructed by the council to contact the owner about correcting the situation. .And. to stop welding, Motion Ayres, second Adams to stop any repair until corrected.Motion carri.ed., r. . t ::. Mr, Mason read a letter. from the State Highway De~,prtment asking.for a resolution on the agreement on the Interchange lighting, Motion 1`obison, second Holbrook to adopt Resolution No. 1t+0. Motion carried., P~Tr, Mason read.a letter from the County Clerk stating that a certified copy"of names to be placed on the'November election would have ~to be t,o the County~Clerk's office to be certified by September 9, 1Q66 Mr. Mason stated that anyone wanting to' run for office, should 'have the~:r petition in to the `City Hall by August 31, 1°66, so that the petition, can be in to,the Clerk's office. This would give time to have the r::: petitions checked and. returned to the City Recorder for his certification, Mr, Mason read a letter regarding the sidewalk telephone servic`e:. 'He " :Mated i.t:would be checked. later this month, [] 3,~~ 7 ~~ A letter from the State Speed Control Board, regarding the speed. on the R.ogue.Valley Highway, was read., The State F?oard felt the 40 miles per ,hour should stand, If the council had. any comments or requests on the situation they would have to send a letter to the Paord before they meet '.again., The council-instructed the City Recorder to again request 30 miles per•hours'spe~ed. The council voted. to re-imburse Mr, James Rodger, 2T~ King~s'Way, for sewer work he had done at this property. The fault ~,:. was riot, in his line, but out in the street. Letters.,of resignation were read from `~`r, Donald. Milligan,.. who is resigning ~:from.the,Publc Works Dept, to take a Fire Cheif position in Monmouth, Ore, `.Mr..~''David. Wells, resigned from. the Police Dej~t, to go back to work for the Ci.ty`of Medford Police Dept. ~ Mr. John Robison presented a'plat of some land he felt the city should take an-option on. The city could get an option for X200.00, The C~ ; ~; .property is'~50,000.O0, Option would be for 2 years. Mrs.: ,Carr asked the council when something would be decided. about the three way exchange of property on Scenic Ave, 1~'ir: Mansfield said he had. talked to Atty, Reeder, and would again, and report to the council. Mrs. Fva.Kight appeared azd spoke concerning the building permit matter at the Shamrock Apartments, ~l° E, Pine Street, Mrs. Kight was. accompanied by her-.,daughter, Dorothy~~r~7cG~ath, who appears to be a tenant in the apartments.` Both Mrs, McGrath and Mrs. Kight expressed disapproval with the decision of .the City Council to not grant a new and different "bu~.ldirig.permit, Both parties in addition expressed. disapproval with. -. the notices which had. been recently received by several of the tenants ndicatng_that the City would remove them from. possession within .thirty ":days'.: The City~s position on the matter was explained. by Mayor Saxbu.ry anc~'by Councilman fiartley.
