The Common Council met in special adjourned session with Mayor_Saxbury
presiding.
Roll call found: Adams, Ayres, Bartley, Holbrook, Mushaney, Robson;.present
Also present: Mason, Tate, Bill Warren.
Discussion was held on the two proposed sewage systems for the -Rogue
River Basin area. After -lengthy discussion on the City of Medford plan
and. the Jackson County plan, Mayor Saxbury asked each council member to
give his idea as to which plan he felt the City of Central Point would
benefit from the most.
Medford Plan: Ayres, Mushaney, Robison.
County Plan: Adams, Bartley, Holbrook.
The votes were tied. No d4.cision was made at this time. Tabled. .for=-
further discussion and study,
Ordinance No. 814 was read, this being an Ordinance dispensing with an
election and calling. for a Public Hearing (May 3, 1966, 7:30 p,m.) on
the proposed annexation of certain properties. (N. A,-Mead property
located onnW~st'Pine Street)
Motion Ayres, second.; Robison to~approve Ordinance No. 814. Roll call
vote: Ayes: Adams, Ayres, Bartley, Holbrook, Mushaney, Robison:"Naves:
none. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 814 declared duly adopted.
Mr. Mason read a bid he had received from Robert Moore and Don Pelham,
Dons Billiards, Eagle. Point, for the old Lorain street sweeper:=:. The
bid. was for $150,.00. 'After discussion, it was decided that the sweeper
was probably ,not worth any more than the bid.
Motion Ayres, second. Robison to accept the bid of $150,00 for<~the Loraim
street sweeper from Robert Moore and Donald Pelham: Motion carried,
Bartley reported on the chassis bids for the Fire Department., He,
Fire,Chief, Turner, and Mr. Mason had gone over the bids and compared
them with, the specifications, They recommended accepting the bid_of
Courtesy.~Chevrolet 'in the amount of $2,844.19.
Motion~Robson,..second Holbrook to accept the bid of Courtesy`Ghevrolet
of $2,844.19 for the;'cab and. chassis, 1966 model. Motion carried:Y`. ':
Discussion on bids receeved for installation of storm. drain. .:Engineer
Wilbur Warren reported that the lowest bid was submitted. by Hirschey,
$9,119.75. This was for project on Oak Street. aOther bids were:
Medford Construction $11,]_71.50 Concrete Steel Corp. $19;046.50
F. L, Somers 16,450,55 Hirschy 9,119.75
Conrad Constr. 9,973.05 _
Engineers estimate was $11,080.90, for the 723 feet of storm. drain.
Motion Adams, second Mushaney to reject all bids, and .city do as much
work as can, be done. for $3,000.00 for material, equipment rental,,`..
backfill, asphalt, etc. Motion carried.
