Commission Meeting Minutes
May 1, 2008
1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
Parks and Recreation Commission members in attendance were: Chairperson Kerry
Bradshaw; Vice-Chairperson, Patricia Alvarez; John Beck; Doug Palmer; and Sean
Winter.
Staff Present: Matt Samitore, Parks and Recreation Manager; Shelly Brown
Secretary II.
III. MINUTES
1. Minutes from Parks Commission meeting. of January 17, 2008 we approved.
Patricia Alvarez made the motion and Doug Palmer seconded the motion.
lV. BUSINESS
1. Matt suggested downsizing the Parks Commission Board to 8 seats. Members
must be committed to attending meetings so there will be enough voting power
for decisions & recommendations to be made. Parks is in the process of re-
writingthe by-laws for the Parks Commission.
2. The Veterans War Memorial is almost 100°~ funded
3. The City purchased the Bronze Eagle Statue (currently in the City Hall lobby) for
the Veterans Fallen War Heroes Memorial for $2,000.
4. Monday; May 19, the bids for Don Jones Parks will go out. Bidding .opens on
Thursday, May 22.
5. Matt presented an overview of Parks and Recreation Budget, for 2008 and
accomplishments during 2007-08
• We will be holding more community forums for new parks in our area
• Don Jones Bond Levy was approved by Council
• City purchased the property at 241 W. Vilas adjacent to Don Jones
(approximately 1/3 acre) for 100K

VII. ADJOURNMENT'
1. Adjournment was made unanimously at 6:45. All were in favor.
2. The next Park Commission meeting is scheduled for July 17, 2008 in the Council
Chamber at 7:00 p.m.
