]rt'g •funny. liaw Vt±e: folks d~ move

hous0:~lt~~'or thg past.stxteen years
or so this.:rvriter 'liaS lived at the
irrtersectii~iri of. what was first :known
as . "Ralroa'ei sPilley", and 'Tayioi•
F;oad,~' or- _ the wrong side of the
tracks, perhaps, `Suter we perstiad-
esi the city council to change~`fhe
name of Railroad ,Alley to "Amy
Avenue" and when the first spasm
of putting numbers on houses in
Centra•1- Point came along we.
thought- that: being as ho~v the~~
were only • two houses possible in
our block and it was the second
block north of Main street, that we
could pick any number from 100
to 200 for ours. We picked "111"
as the easiest to rememl7er, and
such it has remained ever. since.
p • •
Now they have gone and changed
the system on us. l7ue to ,the fact
that the Powells~live in the rear of
the old house, with a door facing
to the north toward Taylor Road;
our new number is now 119 Taylor
Road-not Amy Ave. But then
again we happen to have two apart-
~;,~rts bt°-.aid°s our own in the big
house, so the one upstairs, whic:~
"has its door on the south side of
the house, is now numuered 139
North Amy Avenue, while the oth°r
apartment which has a door on the
north" side opening on the front
porch, Carries the number 131 North
Amy Avenue. Some mixture! But
anyone wanting to find the I'owells
can still come to the last house on
North Amy avenue where we have
always lived. •
