tion of concrete curbs, gutters
and catch basind on Maple street
from the highw{yv to Second
street,
Construction wflY start as soon
a~ requirements • can be met as
to public hearings and other
matters concerning Bancroft fiit-
ancing.
Potitions for improvAmenta on
other streets have been taken
from the city hall and it will
be ' in the best interest of every-
one, according to a city official,
H these petitions are signed and
presented to the council in the
very nea}' future. .
Better bids are received when
there is a larger quantity of
work to be bfd far. Larger lobs
reduce the unit cost of publics-
tiona and engineering and6esur-
veyfng and a definite savings is
realized by each property own-
er who is assessed for a part of
the cost,
Person interested in getting
curbs constructed this year must
hurry with their petitions.
The waiting periods between
public .notices and public hear-
ings, between calls for bids and
bid .opening dates and the fact
that the city council• must adopt
a mi~imurrt of eight ordinances
for each gob, all add up to a
lot 'of thrie.
All construction work should
be done well'-before' winter rains
so streets can be put in shape
for winter.
