how Has Over Half Mile of
first fiass Street,
The Clark & Henery Co. finished
their Central Point paving contract last
&Ianday morning and this city may now-
;fi~oast of possessing eleven blocks of as
Haigh class street paving as that of an~~
city in the country. The work was
done tlaorcughly and well and in record
.time, not a moment -being wasted by
`th~compauy and not a protest being
;filed against the character of work
`done. The paving new extends from
~iVlanzanita street south on-Front street
-to Pine, thence east on Pine street to
Tenth street, considerably more than
'one half mile.
Every citizen of the city is indebted
to the Clmrlc-Henes•y company and to
their efficient corps of workmen for the
splendid work done, as well as to our
city officials, mayor, councilmen, re-
eordea°, and marshal, for their part in
'the campaign for a better and moa•e
'modern city.
Next year will undoubtedly see more
'street improvements than the present,
'for now practically everyone sees and
iacknowledges the value to the general
;welfare of such im•provegaents.
Asitworlit,
' Mrs. Caroline Ashworth, wife of
Robt. Ashworth, died at the family

taken its place.
The entire arrangement of the ofliee
has been .changed the lobby now ex-
tending lengthwise of the building and
giving much more room for patrons.
To the left of the entrance is a private
office for the postmoster and back of
that are commodious departments for
the postal savings bank, the money or-
der department, delivery clerics, and
rural carriers. li
TI'e changes were made necessary by'
the continued growth of the baseness of
the office which has increased more
than 15 per cont aver last year instamp
sales alone.
All the new fixtures in woodwork
were "made in Central Point," being
