Consideration of a Water Meter Sys•
tem for the. City Ucctlpied Most
of the Time.
In order to obviate the reoccurence
of s water shortage fork fire protection
1n the future the city council has boen
trying to devise some equitable plan of
legislation. Monday nigltt that body
met in special session for the purpose
of conalderin~ s water metor system
for the city. Councilmen Pearl and
Alexander opposed the purchase of me-
ters by the city, which would incur an
indeht@dneas of about $900. The mayor
made it plain that meters must be used
or else irrigation would huve to be cut
out, that sufficient water for fire and
domestic purposes should be the first
coneiderntion. it was finally agreed
that the nears of water for irrigation
would have to purchase their own me-
ters or do without irrigation this sum-
mer.
The meter rates wore fixed ae fol-
lows: Minimum gharge, X1.00 for the
first 1004 gallons; 26 cents per 1000 gal.
for the next 8000 gallons; I~) cents per
1000 gallons for the next 1b,000 gallons;
2b coots per 1000 gallons fur all over
20,000 gallons. Thla may be used only
hotwe~tlr5:30 a. m. and 7:30 p. m. The
