Plans -are now underway for tfie r j erection of flood lights at the high a school football field. ~'l'he necessary s elghY poles have been secured and - are now being prepared for u_se. t 'The holes have been dug ready for • the erection of the poles tvhen randy. The big job for. the cour- t mitt.ee at present is the raising of t the money ' necesstizey to install the lights, acording to a statement last - night by Art Rupp, who is hnndliryq • f_!to .job. The building at the gt•and stand ~ at the field was undertaken by the Lions club as their first project. This structure is now finished and paint- ed, according to Mr. Rupp. Much s credit for the fine job of painting ~ ~ is due to Floyd Loefler, master i painter, who donated Ute use of his e! spray machine and equipment and ' I who did much of the work. t~ bigging the holes for the pules` proved a much harder job than was t anticipated vn gecount pf the hard ' ground. Efforts ko dig the holes by ' hand failed and it- was necessary t'u ~ sectu•e a compressor and air hammer a to drill holes for powder ko loosgn t up the hardpan sufficiently to en- 1 ' able the hates to ~bc sunk to the ~I proper de~ith. The project of providing lights at ~ the high school field, while sponsor- s ed by---tlte Lions club, is not just a s, Club project but a community one. 1 On account of the fact that they t games must now be played by day- ( light and that most of those who like to attend such games are work- tag' at that time, It is felt that if 1~ the field were. lighted and the games--played in the-~vgning the I attendance would be much larger y and -mw•c profitable for the school. I, Mr. Rupp states that he and the cdinmittee are o_ pen to suggestions :, as to the best means to raise the money necessary to corriplete the e 3I project.. A tentative eattmate places }the cost of the.ttood lights--and th'e r:I installation at around $804.
