How our little city has' grow.
lolks. This writer little thought we
avould ever liva to see the day titati
Central Point would ever have a
first class school district. Back in
1932 when we took Tom Pankey's
place on the ltlcal school board ono
began to struggle avith the problems
of providing an education for the
youth of this city, we had all we
could do to keep the dlstricf on an
even keel as a district of the secono
class ~ without 'ever dreaming it
would grow into a district of fna
first class. But such is life Fn the
Far West, as the feller said.
While we are pleased to see the
consolidation of these three districts
with ours, which makes one gran;,
dish•ict reaching from Beall Lane
north and west to the neighborhooo
of Foots Creek,' .north abnost t.
Sams Valley and northeast to abmr
.the center of old Camp While, we
cannot help but feel a bit sad when
u~e think of the changes it will make
in some ways. No longer will w.
have a Gold Hill high school basket-
ball team giving us a run for our
money each year. Nor see lire
crowd o[ Gold Hill rooters shouting
lustily for their team. But t.::
world must move forward and somr
things must fall by the wayside. He

we have been bragging for thew
forty years that the Rogue Rive-
valley never suffered from high
winds nor tornadoes. Now we note
in last nights paper that a hig~
wind raised the root of a largr
garage on Barnett Road near Metl
ford, then dropped it down so hart
that'one of the walls of the build
fog collapsed. We wonder if sue' -

have flocked into our county in re

from, and welcome.

It is reported that the Central
