will be held July 29 to name a site

nounced this week.
The consolidation of the Central
Pohtl; Gold Hill, Willow Springs
and Table Rock districts, which Was
approved by the voters June 27, be-
came et[ective July 5, Bowman said,
but they will not be officially rec~g-
nized as a .first class district mtti]
June, 1050, under the Oregon school
law. The law stales that when dis•
h~icfs reach first class status-at
least 1000 children between the ages
of four-and hventy-they cannot
be recognized_ until the following
annual school elections, cvttich are
held the third Monday in June of
each year. In the meantime, while
the Central Point board is. taking
charge o[ the affairs o[ l,,e new
consolidated district, all f bite
school boards of the various districts
composing the new consolldatio
are sitting in al each meeting of e
Central Point board and are show-
ing perfect co-operation in the work
o[ making plans for the new status.
In addition to choosing a site for
a new high school building, voters
in the new district must decide
whether then will remain under
the jurisdiction n( the county rural
school board, with its provision for
an equalized county school tax le•ry,
or will operate as a separate unit
.independent of the rural board.
In the matter of "Elie Table Rock
district school it has heen tentatively
-dec[ded--to furnish buses for the
transportation of the smaller child-
ren to fhe Table Rock school, while
the hig~cr grades will be brougSt
to the Central Point school. I[ is
reported that another election may
be called in the Toln district to de-
cide whether ar not that distract
will also join the consolidated di;=
trio.
