~' The question of issuing $500,000
in Uonds by'School ~Dish•ict No. 8
for the purpose of building a new
high school Uuilding and improving
the grounds was settled Monday Uy
a votC of nenrly three to opetn
favor of.the,.propositjon. The,dis-
trict had been divided ihto two
voting precincts, one voting at the
high school gym in Central Point
and the othet• In Gold Hlll, The
vote in Central Point was aaa yes
and 42 no. In Gold Hill the~voto
wns much clotaer-02 yes and 89 no.
For the whole district the voto
stood 314 yes-nxLd 191 no, a maJm•ity
for. the Uonds of 183. -

board: A. E. Powell, H. J. Fleischer
And Faizabeth Scott, judgos; and
Dora S. Sones, cleric. All were ex-
perienced election officials and
when th polls closed Lhe cUllht was
made in record time.
The school hoard Is now prepar-
ing to issue Lhe Uonds and call fm•
bids for their silo. IL is hoped to
'get Lhc money ih time Lo call for
bids fot• the conslruclion of the
building- at once. Howeter, on
account of the sirs of Lhe job and
^te winter rainy season Ueingl nt
hand it is thought only preliminary
work can be done this year. Ilut in
any case the. new building will be
ready for occupancy in tilne for
school next fall.
The building of this new high
school will. do mach to relieve the
crowded condtiinn n[ both the Cen-
Iral Point and Gofcl I{ill.schoal3. It
is planned to use lha present high
school as a junior high, thus mnl.~~
Ing considerable morq room in tho
grade school bttjlding. All high
school s~UtdenLs Sn C•e entire consoL-
dated district (which, by the wey,
will 6c. a First Class district next
year) will he transported to the
qew building, leaving 'the grade.

There has been some speculatian
in regard to fhc use of the present
!m•fed and lighted footUnil field.
It is considered probable that the
new high school wiA have tts own
turfed Field and the lights may be
moved there. leaving the present
field, sans lights, for jtutior high
use.
