Minnis & Shilling, Eugene, $1,029.-

tied as void unless the firm was also
low bidder on the plant job.}
Il appears that Minnis & Shilling
was low bidder tln both Jobs, but
the council voted to refer oil bids to
Engineer A. b. Harvey to be checlt-
ed. The council will meet again
tonight to hear hJs repm~t.
1`he council then took up the mat-
ter of the budget for the ensuing
year ns reported by the budget com-
mittee. Most of the Items were
approved as read, but one item of
$3,800 in the general fund, which
had been put in to provide for the
hiring of a Illy auper(ntendent to
supervise all the affairs of the city
under the council and mayoq
brought on quite a bit of ra(her
caustic discussioh. Attar kalking
[he matter over for some time it wue
moved 4Y Councilman Cupp and
seconded by Councilman ~Kelw that
the item be dropped fl~om the bud-
get for this yeas i
Councilman Bigham brought up
the matter of the proposed sidewalk
on East Pine street. It seems that
so far the engineer charged with
drawing up a plan of the proposed
improvement had failed to produce
a plan according to the expressed
wishes of lhe~councli. So it was
proposed .to have the city attorney
draw up a proper petition including
such speeitications and the street
committee will' then take it tq the
lnt¢rested property owners for,
signature. If the awner~ of they
necessary two-thk•ds of the property!
involved sign up the council can •
then ~arder the walk ]old according
to the desired specifications.
