of America, was elected as ono
of six district vice presidents
for the coming year during the
28th annual FFA convention
which ended last Thursday at
Corvallis. ~/
Donn Johnson, retiring 1855
state FFA president, was award-
ed a $950 achoiarsltip from
Standard Oil company.
Earlier 'in the, four-day ~on-
vention,~ four 'Crater .chapter
members were named for the
state farmer degree, That' are
Norman Barnes, Clifford Big-
ham, Marton Gasset4 and Wil-
liam Ryan.

Parents attending the "Girl
Scout Spring Sing" on Tuesday,
March 2i, will help one of the
local troops to win abanner,- it
was amiounced this week.
The banner will be presented
to the Girl Scout hoop having
the largest representation of par-
ents in attendance.
The Sing wilt be held at 4:30
p.m. Tuesda>• in the Central
oint Jmtior High school library.
One of the purposes of the
gathering is to acquaint mare
parents and friends with the day
camp program for the Gir]
Scoots. A new schedule is plan-
ned Por day camp this year. For
eae11 group of eight girl scouts
attending camp. one adult will
be assigned as their advisor and
leader. Wiih tins program, 4he
Central Point organization needs
a greater numbor of interested
parents to assist.
In addition to the selection of
songs Tuesday evening, Mlss
Mary Aldrich will gave n brief
talk on "Day Camp in the Rogue
Velley'„ and show n film on day
camp.
Troop 101, composed of eighth
grade girls led by Mrs. B. L,
Collinsworth and Mrs. Archie
Purdy, will be presented with
an American flag by the Amer-
ican Legion Auxiliary, sponsors
of the troop.
