P. Wright, ropres©ntiny~ the A. l3: Long Cu., of Portland, met with tho city dada and took up the matter of fire apparatus for the town, exhibiting 3r~mplea of fire hose and giving detailed information regarding other necesaary appura~us. As a result of tho meeting the council pWced an order with Mr. Wright for two hose carte and 600 feet of standard 2~ inch firo hose with the necessary nozzles, etc. One 30 foot extension ladder, .a 16 foot wall ladder and a 14 foot roof ladder were also ordered. The apparatus ordered amounts to some $800 and is for immediate delivery. ~'~ The matter oP establishing water 'Iratea was also taken up and discussed i informally and the ordinance committee decided to get busy at an early date and prepare a proper ordinance cover- ) ing this important matter, In the ab- sence of any previous effort bn the paid of the council or any committee to ~x~vork this matter out Recorder Jacobs, with the sanction of Mayor Leever made a trip to Ashland last Thuzsday afternoon, where he aecurc~ri valuab}e ~ irdformation regarding water rates, which•was turned over to the propeg~ committee of the council Monday even- ing.
