(3onstruction ix now progressing rrspidly on this4 new high school structure,
fm• which a bond issue of 840.000 was votes! i+ebruary 1 I for the purpose cif construc-
ting and equipping. It will be ready for use at the begiraning of the f:lll term in
September. The building is iocitted on the pt•esenh school grounds faclnt> the Pacific --
highway and it will he so placed that ¢t centrxl he+tting plant between the new build- -
int• and the present seheol house will' care for thr heriting of both. ,
• The building will he of reinforced concrete with a stucco exterior, futi$hed
with Medusa white. It has a front of 148 feet. with previsions fur future class rooms
to the number of Fourteen er eighteen, "at the rc:u•. The present unit under con-
struction contains a large study hall and nine class rooms capable of accotnmodating
350 students. The department hasis is being-yised. The commercial department
consists of two rooms separated by a glass partrturn, one room to be used for typing,
the other for bookkeeping and shorthattd. The typing room hax at maximum capacity
of 20 and the bookkeeping of 30. Two rooms, one to be equipped for laboratory
and one far lecture work, Institutes the science department. The domestic science
department consists of two rooms, one the cooking laboratory,-"tire nth4r._,L)te sgwittg
and art room. Both bf these rooms arc large and well lighted and will be thoroughly
equipped. Provisions are also made fort elasses.in English, languages rind mathe-
matic:~. A teachers' rest room, superintendent's office and library ore all eareful`}y

The sum of $38,856.0'L will cover the cost including general construction,
heating and plumbing, electric wiring, 9rchitects' fees, "inspector blackboards, light-
ing fixtures, and wiring for the electric clock system. Contracts totaling $38,434.30
awarded for the construction include the general-construction for ~28,53b.32 awarded
to R. I: Stuart and Gilbert Stuart of Medford. The heating and plumbing contract
awarded to Keyser and Schmidie of Roseburg, at ~6,8J5.53, and the electric wiring
cnntrnet let to the Peoples Electric Store at Medford, at $1,002,45.
