tion of the Legion Memorial Ball
and grounds. The appearance o4
the litter-strewn groumis and .the
building itself is a 'disgrace to any
self-respecting community. When
the people of this community contri-
buted,so generously to the building
of the hall they thought it was to be
`PPfaintalned perpetually as a memor-
ial to the. soldiers of all wars who
gave their lives foi• their country.
Aa such a memorial it is a disgrace.

When~the local Legion post was
first organized there was no place
in which to hold meetings. Fur a
long time the post met in the Sports-
men's building -west of town and
plans were made to build some sort
of hall for their own use. The sug-
gestion was made and accepted that
the new building~shauld be in the
nature of ~ a memortaI~~ -building.
When this;. proposition .was placed
before our people, with urgent re-
quests for help, both financial end
physical,•we got that help, unstint-
edly. No one will ever know how.
many hard hours of work or how
many thousands oP ~feet_ of lumber
and other materials were gladly
donated. Only with such help was
it possible to erect a building of
such proportions. .
