At a special moeting of the town
council held Manday evening a location
for the city well and pumping plant Yar I
the proposed city water system was f
decided upon and an order was made to j
purchase the ground, The location is ~
the south half of block 34, on Ceder
street between E'tfth and Sixth streets.
It is about the highest ground in the
town and is considered the best loca-
tion available. The plat of ground is
140x22(1 feet and, with the adjoining
streets, wiR make passible the cot~-
struction of tunnels from the bottom of
the well ¢lQ feet in length if neceaenry
to secure a sufTiciont flow of water.
The graund wns purchased from S. A.
Pattison, the price being ;260.
The water committee was instructed
to advertise for bids for tha work with-
out delay and it is tho intention of the
mayor and council to push the work
with alt possible speed.
The present plnn is to sink the well
to nwater-hearing gravel strata and
then run tunnels east and west from
the bottom, thus opening up a large
surface of water-bearinggravel. Plans
and specifications of the work will be
prepared at once and no time will be i
lost in Rotting the work started. J
