The cit3i well had 'readied a depth o~
42 feet 7~esdap morning, when it w~
necessary to suspend work for ~- eoup~e
of days while another snd larger pump
was being in$talZe~ A 4-inch cep-
fogs! pump and h ~0-horsepower motor
hate been in uas keeping the abaft free
~ from water, and when it was found
necessary to lower the pump to a
position nearer the botto® of the well
the flow of watex ;vas so great that it
was formal necessary to secure another
pump which might be installed while ~
the present one is at.work keeping the
water vu~. ~flherl the pub is stopped
the abaft fills with water to a depth of
12 feet in shut 4(~ minutes and it is
estimated that at the present time the
well will .afford nearly 175 gallons of
water par miaute~ ~snntinuously. The
welt is n~~w in a strata of loose, water-
bearing gravel and as soon as the bot-
tom of that is reached tunnels will be
drafted in two ~reetiotie ~.o crosscut the
water veins. It is expected this will'
furnish an unlimit~~ supply of fine
water. The tunnels will also furnish a .
large reservoir capacity for storage of
water. Bids will be called for for the
constrtiaction of the tunnels .at once and
the work will be pusher with all pasai-
i ble speed. ., C
