The Water 1+Vorks. ~ I
1- ~. A. Kean & Co., of i;hicago, whose
~Ia 1~}' was accepted for the- $25,000 issue
a' atf water bonds have asked the city re-
~- Border for further information regard-
;o ing the proceedure of council in uieet-
~s ings leading up to the bond issue and
the matter has been referred to Hol-
t brook Withingto_n, city attorney, for
~• attention. It is nod to be understood
e that any particular trouble is to be ex-
iy petted in the matter of the final ac-
1Q ceptance of the bonds by the Chicago
g_ firm but only that every step inthepro-'
,e (ceedings must be made clear ~,o the
~t i buyers. It is expected that the matter
I will be finally cleared up withir; a few
i days and the work of letting contracts
Y~ ~ for construction can be finally taken up.
The city recorder has been advised by
~d Mr. Lee, of Cottage 1Grove, who will
~ provably be employed to prepare sped- ~
to ficattons for the proposed system, that
le he will be here early next week totake
the matter up with the council.

j Delays are vexatious in a matter o ~
this kind when not only the members of
the council but almost every citis4en is
~ anxious to see ,the work started and j
pushed to completion but bond buyers ~
are one class of people who seem to ~
take their own good time in matters ~
wherein their good, elegant money is ~
concerned'
It should reasonably be expected,
however, that actua~ -pork at construc-
tion will be under way within a 'few
weeks and that the work will be fin-
ished during the present, autumn.
